‘Machha Chasa Pain Nua Pokhari Khola Yojana’
(Matsya Pokhari Yojana).
To enhance fish production and expand the freshwater fish production area , the state of Odisha plans to excavate new fish ponds under the State plan Scheme ‘Machha Chasa Pain Nua Pokhari Khola Yojana’ (Matsya Pokhari Yojana).
- OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this scheme are as follows:
- To create additional water bodies for intensive aquaculture in the inland sector by excavating new tanks/ponds in Odisha.
- To promote intensive aquaculture in existing old tanks with low productivity.
iii. To generate income and create employment opportunities through the promotion of freshwater aquaculture.
- To increase productivity up to 5 MT/ha/yr.
- TARGET GROUP AND AREA OF OPERATION
This scheme will cover interested farmers who own land/ponds and meet the following eligibility criteria:
- He/She must be a resident of Odisha and provide proof of identity and residence, including an Aadhaar card.
- He/She must have a bank account in their name in Odisha.
iii. He/She Must have land free from any encumbrances, and documentary evidence of the land must be provided by the beneficiary.
- The excavated area for subsidy consideration should be a minimum of 0.20 Ha. and a maximum of 2.00 Ha., with a minimum water depth of 6 feet.
- If a beneficiary has previously received a similar subsidy for pond excavation for pisciculture under a different government scheme, they will still be eligible for further subsidy for the remaining area, up to a maximum limit of 2.00 Ha., under this scheme.
- When availing the subsidy, the beneficiary’s family will be considered instead of individual members.

- The certificate of disability issued by the certifying authority or competent authority, indicating a disability of 40% or more as per ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, will be considered valid for differently-abled individuals. Similarly, the certificate of identity issued by the District Magistrate as per ‘The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019 will be accepted for individuals belonging to the transgender category.
- If the Government in the F & ARD Department increases the subsidy percentage during this financial year, it will be applicable to those beneficiaries who have received the Go ahead letter in the FY 2023-24.
